SCHOOL
LIFE
HOMEWORK
Every
attempt is made to avoid repetitive or non-productive work.
The school sees homework as a vital tool for reinforcing classroom
lessons and for encouraging independent working habits and
skills.
REPORTS AND PARENTAL CONTACT
Formal
reports are issued at the end of the autumn and summer terms.
Parents’ evenings are held during the spring term. Informal
drinks evenings are held every term. Regular information bulletins
are issued to parents at the end of most weeks. Members of
staff are usually available for appointments at short notice.
UNIFORM
Children
are expected to look neat. Whilst there is no regimented school
uniform, children wear grey or black skirts or trousers, a
blouse or shirt with a collar (any colour or print), navy
blue, grey or black sweater, polo neck or cardigan, grey or
black socks, black shoes (not trainers) and coat or anorak
in a simple, dark colour.
THE
SCHOOL DAY
Pupils
should arrive before 8.45am, when registration takes place.
Classes begin at 9.00am and continue until 3.40pm. Optional
extra activities are available between 3.40pm and 4.30pm from
Monday to Thursday for specified periods of the term.
Parents
of the 3 and 4-year-olds in the pre-prep school may wish however
to collect their children at lunch-time.
