Dear Parents,
As I mentioned to the Year 5-11 pupils during assembly this week, holidays are great but it is also nice to return to school to reunite with everyone again. It was fantastic to see the smiles on all of the pupils’ faces and to hear all about their adventures over the Easter break.
It was a short week this week, so I don’t have much to report but I do want to thank the Year 12 & 13 parents for coming in this week for informal conversations. I was grateful for the opportunity to share our curriculum plans for HCH and to hear parental views. I look forward to all of the further parental year group informal evening meetings next week and the week after. As I have mentioned many times, parental voice is invaluable to me. I also thoroughly enjoy getting to know you all better.
In a similar light, I would like to ask more of you to get involved with the Friends. The Friends and I have agreed that it would be useful to have one representative from each section of the school (Early Years; Lower Years; Middle Years; Upper Years; Sixth Form) and a parent representative from each year group. This would be a great opportunity for you to get involved in discussions about how we can continue to build on the successes of HCH. I have been grateful for the wisdom and passion of the current Friends, and I know they are very happy to receive new members. Today the friends discussed charity evenings, school social events, and all of the special end of term festivities. If you would like to get involved, please write to: friends@hchnet.co.uk. “We are hosting a coffee morning on Friday morning next week, 29th April, to welcome anyone who would like to become involved with the Friends of HCH, and contribute ideas and/or time to help to organize the social events of the school, starting with a number of events scheduled for this term. The meeting will take place in the Main Hall from 9.15am, straight after drop off, so please drop in. Everyone is welcome, and we hope that this new term marks the beginning of a more positive, hopeful time after Covid, where we can return to a rich and varied school social life, and connect more often as a community! There may even be croissants… come and join us!”
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there, and to all of the exciting social events planned for this term. Echoing the message above, it would be great to connect more often as a community.
Thank you for your patience in battling the traffic around HCH during drop off and collection. The bridge works should be finished soon and hopefully this will give us some respite from the constant traffic jams. It feels like an opportune time to remind parents that we do have a bus service, should you be interested in exploring this option. As I mentioned in my last newsletter, I am going to be replacing this weekly newsletter with a Headmaster’s Blog to communicate what is happening around school. I will communicate all information about upcoming events or anything else important via a letter and as an individual news piece. I hope this will help with the clarity of communication.
